We do need to be realistic with our goals, though, because senior health is not about trying to look like teenagers. However, being a healthy, fit and smart Baby Boomer is.

Primarily, meet with your physician and personal trainer to assess your current fitness level.

By determining your initial fitness and overall health, your physician and trainer can help to develop an exercise and nutrition program that is right for you. Everyone’s bodies are different, and you have to listen to your body and work with it to reach your goals. You certainly want to avoid injury, especially when you begin a new program.

Second, maintain a fitness journal to keep record of your progress.

If you are including weight training in your program, think about how you may have started doing five-pound bicep curls during week one to eight-pound bicep curls in week five.
